The Sand Castles approach to early learning and development is drawn from a select assortment of theoretic schools of pedagogical thought taken from a range of scholastic disciplines including child psychology, family psychology, social psychology, philosophy, communication, art, physics, neuroscience, biotechnology, and sociology. Our High Scope method is rooted in an understanding of Gardner's (1983) Theory of Multiple Intelligences, which was itself highly derivative of Gross' (1974) Modes of Communication and the Acquisition of Symbolic Competence, and we apply this collective perspective to every activity conducted in our center.
